SiM07, un accro de l’informatique

Je parlais il y a quelques jour du format d’image de Microsoft dans un billet intitulé : “Le format d’image Microsoft arrive sous le nom d’HD Photo“. Il semble que Microsoft soit relativement “ouvert” sur le sujet et que le format pourrait très bien être implanté sous Linux et devenir un standard concurrent sérieux du Jpeg. Compression, décompression Microsoft n’interdirait rien.

Now we’re taking the next big step. Our goal is to turn the format over to an appropriate standards organization. Ideally, this will include the publishing of an open specification, making possible to implement compatible encoders and decoders that are completely independent of Microsoft’s reference source code. This should fully address any concerns that have been raised about the option for open source implementations.

Reste à voir si il y aura un simple combat ou une guerre avec le JPEG ou un échec cuisant avec Microsoft.
